peacefully at Waikato Hospital on 27 August 2025, aged 82 years.

Distinguished academic and advocate for older people, who dedicated more than four decades of her life to advancing the wellbeing of seniors and shaping the nation’s understanding of ageing.

Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Martin & Lauren; Juliet & Fraser

Proud Grandmother of Emma, Lucy, Alex and Parker

Formerly married to the late John Koopman with whom she shared many years and a family.

Sister and sister in law to Clive & the late Shirley Boyden and Geoff & Glenys Boyden.
